I liked them both for different reasons. I wasn't really sure what to expect with ME1, but a friend pushed it onto me and told me to give it a try. I thought that it was pretty fantastic. When I picked up ME2, I found myself thinking, for about the first 2 hours "Man, I wish this was more like ME1..." then the game/story grabbed me, and away I went.

I have a feeling that's what ME3 will be like for most folks. They'll whinge for the first hour or so of gameplay, then the story will nab them.

Sadly, I have a feeling that because ME3 is the end of the storyline, most folks won't be whinging about how the game plays, but about how they would have done something different with the story, and how could Bioware end their game "like that"...
