The rebels are using the "mercenary" excuse to murder and detain large numbers of these sub-Saharan black Africans. This is an ugly civil war...and I have my doubts that a "democracy" will emerge in Libya. Egypt has failed in that respect also....

Ghadaffi has always used African mercenaries as part of his protection circle, he's never trusted his own military.
And even during the Arab spring, he was sending private jets to pick up more mercenaries on a daily basis.
