Default Habs Play Well In Front of the Third String Goalie

Phillipe Sauve was brought in to spell off Kari Lehtonen for a game as the Habs were playing their third game in as many nights. The club responded with a solid effort after a shakey start. The first period saw Sauve gain his teammates confidence as he was able to turn aside all 11 shots. The Habs in turn sent 9 shots at the Luongo in the Ducks net, 2 of which turned on the red light.
The Habs were firing on all cylanders in the second as they fired 14 shots towards the ducks net. By the midway point of the second period Luongo was a spectator, and the Habs were up 5-0.
Only Osgood was able to keep this game from getting completely outta hand. On Kristian Kudroc was the only Hab to solve Osgood on 15 shots.
The shutout was ruined part way through the second as Scott Hannan moved in from the point undetected to finish a play from the slot.
The most productive line of the evening was the Scott Thornton, Shawn Horcoff and Branko Radivojevic line. It seems having Radivojevic on the line gave the green light for both Horcoff and Thornton to press hard offensively. It also allowed the defese (usually Kudroc and Rafalski) to jump into the play. Kudroc had his best game of the season scoring twice and was +5 on the night. Horcoff (3 assists) and Thornton (2 goals, 1 assist) were also +5.
