The national rankings came out Tuesday and Calgary was pegged at No. 4 in the Football Reporters of Canada-CIS pre-season poll — a slot which Nill won’t argue.
The defending Vanier Cup champion Laval Rouge et Or are in their habitual No. 1 spot, receiving all 20 first-place votes after finishing undefeated in 2010. Following Laval are Western Ontario and McMaster.
The Dinos, three-time Canada West champs, are followed in the No. 5 and No. 6 placings by conference rivals Saskatchewan and Regina, respectively. Rounding out the top 10 are Montreal, Sherbrooke, Saint Mary’s and Laurier.
“Montreal is going to be tough; there’s some hype there with Danny Maciocia coming in,’’ Nill said.
