Just because I felt like giving 4x4 an infraction; I followed the trail back. Sadly, I was unable to issue an infraction because he did not actually call you stupid.
I understand that you may not like the authority of the police; however they are the people we appoint to help keep us safe. Yes, some of us may break traffic laws- 4x4 and I both speed for example. However in the past year the number of times I have been involved in a near miss with a cell phone using driver has got to be 8-10. The number of times I have had a near miss with a speeder; maybe once in the last 5 years.
Is this a new way for police to make money? Sure. Does it also increase the safety of our roads? I think so. Right now we have a group of 16-25 year old drivers who do not remember not having a phone in the car; and have grown up cell phones around them all the time. Sadly, they need to be told it is not allowed.
The seatbelt law has been brought up- it came into law for me a couple of years before I started driving. People hated it, but as a new driver I always put on my seatbelt. Now I even put on my seatbelt to juggle the cars around the driveway- simply out of habbit. Hopefully this new law is equally as habit forming.
