Well since you've paid for it, you could go sailing on the high seas and find a faster downloading copy.
Morally you're in the clear in that kind of situation. I've had to use 3rd party cracks to deal with Steam sometimes when I've bought their old legacy games and found that the Steam versions are bugged to hell and I need fan made bug fixes that will only work with retail copies.
