Man, one of the things that kept me playing chrono trigger was the combo attacks. I couldn't wait to unlock the next one for my team.
I'm really surprised Square hasn't tried to copy the joint attack system into many of its other franchises. Chrono Cross was a huge disappointment because of the lack of combo attacks (only few players could link, and I think there was only like 3 triple attacks in the whole game, and there were TONS of chars).
