Hitler galvanized his people with a simple message of revenge and regaining their lost honor. They were stabbed in the back by the other European powers and especially the French.

If Hitler had stopped after taking France, nobody would have cared all that much, and they would have secretly cheered Hitler on.

I always find it amazing that Germany was a beautiful country with a cultural history that hid their hatred and rage so well. They completely threw in with Hitler and believed him to a be a savior
