I'd bet most of you people who are bitching and moaning and wanting animals off flights are NOT animal owners yourself.

We can play the game though, if that's what everyone wants. I expect NO ONE on my next flight to smell of cigarette smoke, perfume, bad breath, body odour, food of any kind should also be banned because of the stench. I have asthma and so I demand my rights to not have to use my puffer are more important than everyone else.

So... Yes I have a dog. I may have a rat of a dog, but it is my pet. She is a part of my family.

My animals safety, should I need to travel with her, far far far outweighs my care of you allergy people having a sniffle or two. If you have a problem, one of us can move. If you have an issue that will cause you LIFELONG effects from one airplane ride with an animal in a confined space where the air doesn't even circulate, I really think you ought to re-examine why YOU are travelling too. And if you really do have a lifelong health issue due to my pet being in the cabin, I would consider switching flights, just so long as you would also have considered it to avoid my animal.

I'm not entirely unreasonable- I just wonder why today's culture panders to allergy sufferers. A lot of people's pet are the most important thing to them. I know that in my case, my house could burn down and I would not care one iota as long as my dog was safe.

P.S. I've only travelled on a plane where there has been an animal in the cabin one time. It was my own dog, and no one on the plane even knew she was there, allergy sufferers included. That said, I would never ever travel with her again because it was such a pain in the behind.

Anyway, if you ban pets you better ban EVERY other airbourne toxin/allergen/etc... that's only fair.

edit: I also have friends with severe allergies, and they make sure to take a pill, even though they've never had a reaction to my dog. It's a hassle, but that's all part of life.
