I think at this point its pretty hard for NATO to do anything around Misrata. There's little air to ground coordination, and the artillery based weapons that Libya has left are of the mortar and tube variety which means that they can shoot break down and be gone before an airstrike gets there.
I was blown away that in the 6 months that Nato has been involved they've flown 17000 sorties, with Canada flying in the range of 1700 sorties.
Even from a Canadian Standpoint, beyond the $60 million dollar cost, those planes are going to have to return home soon for complete overhauls, the question becomes one of do we send replacement planes? Or do we leave the air part of the mission and leave the Navy there?
