I have begun skipping the monologue almost entirely now. I fast forward through it to see if he has anything going on, and then watch the part after the first commercial (unless it's the stupid fan correction bit), and then skip almost the rest of the show unless there is a guest I want to see. Very rarely are the comedians any good, and occasionally I'll be pleasantly surprised by the musical guest.
