Two things:
1. I wish the bridge was properly tendered for the design. The St. Patrick's bridge submissions all looked far better than this. Following the proper process at the beginning of this project would have surely paid dividends ...
2. ... because as feared by everyone who was painted with the 'nay-sayer' brush, this project's construction time and costs are several million dollars and several months on the side of uncomfortable. Consider that the bridge has already been delayed multiple times due to shoddy manufacturing in Spain, as everyone who opposed a Calatrava-designed structure was concerned about, given Calatrava's history. The bridge was supposed to open in fall of 2010, only to be pushed back to January 2011, which was then pushed back to June 2011, which has now been pushed back to who knows when (the city sure doesn't).

There are far too many jokes to make about this, and every single one of them makes me gag a little.
