I think they probably looked at it that they will probably always have a good shot to get something in the 2 mill range so why not by pass the extra mill and go get the education he wants and come back and still be worth the 2 mill the Jays were offering. an extra mill may have changed his mind, but i'm not sure how greedy they are being given that they pre warned teams that he was going to be a very tough sign. Jays took a risk and unfortunately didn't pan out but at the same time they got it back with the Norris signing. No way should Norris have been there in the 2nd round and IMO is a better prospect than Beede anyway.

For sure it was, or why hard line with 3.5m. This guy is banking on going higher in the draft (getting a higher bonus)
Agents tell teams all of the time they have signed a commit letter, basically means they will sign but they are expensive.
Norris, was thought to be a tougher sign.... for the exact reason.
Beede is going after the cash, I remember another Jays draft pick that did the same thing and he blew out his arm....
