They have already said that various electronic methods have failed due to the weeds and seaweed in the lake; so they are now doing a search by hand.

I agree, it is tough tedious work.
Years and years ago a kid drowned by Stanley Park during a City of Calgary Rec program. The divers only found the kid by actually tripping over the body when they were coming out to change tanks.
Water is harsh enviorment. People often take the dangers for granted.
