WEEK 7: STAMPEDERS vs Riders
WEEK 7: STAMPS vs Riders
This is Calgary and 2nd and final regular season visit to Regina. Game on Friday starts at 7pm. Stamps beat the Riders in their first visit 22-18 on July 30th. Saskatchewan is still seeking their first home field win this season.
OFFENSE:
Well played by Stamps offense against the Ticats. Offensive Linemen did not give up any Quarterback sack and Burris did not get a lot of pressures. Tony Washington did a good protecting Burris blind side on left tackle.
Calgary offense last week started off well in the game by scoring TD (Burris to Taylor) and almost scored another TD and could have been the 1st in Jabari Arthur's career. Unfortunately Ticats threw a challenge flag. The ball definitely came off his hand for a second and hit the turf. Then the offense kind of fell asleep in the 2nd quarter but woke up after a few good series by running back Joffrey Reynolds on a short pass from Burris and Jon Cornish. I thought it was not a coincidence that the offense started going when the offense involved both their running back whether it was a run play of a pass play. RB Joffrey Reynolds, the CFL's top rusher among active players just need 7 yards to pass Norm "China Clipper" Kwong for 7th position.
Ken-Yon Rambo will be questionable against the Riders due his tender Achilles. If he can't suit up, watch for 6'4" receiver Jake Allen to play his first game in the CFL. I saw Allen played in the pre-season and was very impressed with him. Landan Talley who dislocated his shoulder could have been in the lineup if he didn't get injured last game.
DEFENSE:
Defense played well again last week. In the first half, it seems like the Stamps are not pressuring Kevin Glenn at all and they are letting their DBs to be the playmakers. The 2nd half was so much different as they did not give Glenn and his offense a lot of chances to be on the field during that half. The only negative part about the defense was last week was all those penalties. They gave Hamilton second chances and Ticats scored on the 2 pass interference penalties and 2 roughing the passer penalties.
SPECIAL TEAMS:
Larry Taylor is the CFL's special team player of the week. He was good all night against the TiCats and almost run for punt return TD if he didn't run out of space. Burke Dales also played well punting the ball. He pinned the Ticats to one yard late in the game.
Game will be played in Mosaic Stadium Friday night.
GO STAMPS GO!!!
