I am 28, andwith hard work and a little bit of luck have been able to cultivate a successful career. When I left university at 22, I had no delusions though. On top of this I left Calgary for what was initially non-financial and career related reasons (though I ended up starting a great career after 6 months anyhow.)
For me, wealth generation has always been incidental. My primary goal is to have a happy family in a good home. I have a wife and child, and intend to have two more; maintaining a good family is utmost for me. Next to this is continuing to develop my career (which I love doing) and always looking to broaden my knowledge and expertise.

I do see the Characteristics presented in the article in many places, however there it is hardly a generational thing. Plenty of boomers, and generation Xers have the same mentality.
