Brazil isn't exactly the third world. They're actually
above the world average in terms of GDP per capita.

Unless you mean "Third World" in the Cold War sense (countries not aligned with either NATO or the Soviet Bloc), in which case that is true of Brazil, but most people don't use the term "third world" that way. Usually they're referring to poor, pre-industrial countries with very low per capita GDP.
