Calgary can not afford to sacrifice any of the essential services be it CFD/EMS/CPS. Lets support the funding of a pedestrian bridge that is costing the city 10's of millions above what it should and cut back on policing, because crime rates are down!
I care about a safe community for my family, more people should!

I meant that your OP came across with such spin that you've
got to have a horse in this race, and that was my guess (recruiting). The above post I've quoted further illustrates that you're very invested in
whatever horse you've got in this race. From my perspective, I am fine with the cuts. It's a small amount percentage wise and will force CPS, the city's single largest expenditure, to find efficiencies. The police should not be above this.
As a former law enforcement officer I am very pro law and order, but I also know that we are seeing significant trends downwards in most crimes, and efficiencies and small scale cuts are not a bad idea for our police forces. Much like the world's militaries, the police have been slow to adopt to the new world of crime / war and need to focus their resources better.
This means more organized crime and electronic crime resources, at the expense of crimes that are dropping like a rock, such as car theft (the USA for example hasn't seen car theft levels like this since the early 1960s, thanks to modern theft electronics in cars).
I am of the school of thought that you operate the public purse like a business. If crime is dropping and dropping you cut back until it starts to level out, then stabilize funding and tweak from there. This is the first step in that process and I applaud it.
