Did it in a canoe a whole bunch of times; if you can catch a good spill from Ghost dam, it makes for an "interesting" canoe ride...
I used to fly fish up there all the time and had the spills figured out...
Best time we ever did was about an hour and 45 minutes to the bridge at Cochrane...that was the
one and only time we made it without swamping, while riding the surge.

strongly recommended...you
will hit "things" if you're riding the surge.
Never rafted it though...
