Okay, well, here's an update. I decided to visit the Fritou Chicken and Olive Chicken. I would have to say both were very good, and different in their own ways.
Fritou is pretty similar to KFC, except that it has a bit of an extra cayenne or flavour in the seasoning. Olive's was good as well. I tried the half/half. Both restaurants passed the next day, cold chicken taste tests. The Olive one with the sauce, that seemed really close to tasting like ginger beef, except on chicken, lost its crispness, but the regular chicken still retained the crunch. I don't know if the chunks of pickled daikon will replace a corn fritter, but it will do.
