My age group is pretty much the cusp of this change. I got my first cell phone when I was 16, it was my Dad's old one and all it did was make phone calls. I got this because I had a car and my parents wanted to be able to get a hold of me if need be. So it doesn't surprise me that you know/see people of this age group that are still not at this point because this type of stuff is relatively new to us as well (ex. I just got my first smart phone in October). But I know parents that are giving phones to their kids 10 and under. This is where the world is heading and people are going to need to adjust. It's becoming expected that your phone is on you 95% of the time, at least amongst my generation.

And especially if youre in the business of having to be available for clients/coworkers, if you're not they will find someone who is. (That's the way I look at it anyways)
