The rookie wage scale should be escalating salaries like a 4 year deal for picks 1-10, year 1 2m, year 2 3m, year 3 4m, year 4 5m.

Disagree completely. Why would the NFL model it's contracts model after a league it dwarfs revenue wise? That's like saying Peyton Manning shouldn't make $20 mil a year because Crosby only makes 8. Hell the way it looks right now Sam Bradford is being paid just right on his first contract. And I know there are busts as well. I think they did well and met in the middle.
