Ya I've actually heard that there would be quite a few older players who retired who would've probably played an extra year or two if they could skip TC. I understand it sucks, and I hear part of the agreement will be to scale down its intensity in future years (e.g. eliminating two-a-days).
Still though, that's your
job. Especially as a QB, you are the
leader. If you're sippin beers & fishing on the dock with your dog in your Wranglers while taking Prilosec while your WR's, RB's, TE's, OL, etc are busting their balls in TC, how on earth is that helping your team get better? Then he finally shows up and the offence looks completely out of sync the entire first month of the season, go figure. Sorry, that's a selfish, selfish move for a QB making Favre money to make.
And as far as this go-round with Favre-watch, I've been in "NFL doesn't exist mode" the past few months because of the lockout, so I don't know all the particulars on how this year's version started. All I'm going on is the past 3 straight years before that, with all his flip-flopping. I have no sympathy for that guy whatsoever. The media love affair with him definitely doesn't help, for sure. But he gives them the ammo with his indecisiveness.
