My first thought on this is that Layton's resignation (and looking at him, I doubt it's temporary) could stop the NDP entirely in its tracks. Jack Layton is the NDP. That party should have barely more seats than the Block Quebec and the fact that they have 103 seats in parliament is testament to how good of a leader he is.
