Buy one. You don't have to spend a massive amount on one, but every man needs at least one decent suit. If you get a versatile enough suit you can wear it to weddings, funerals, job interviews, business meetings, and any other formal events you may end up at. Get a few decent shirt and tie combos and you can re-invent the same suit time after time.
Renting a suit doesn't make much sense to me. Unless you never go to another wedding or formal event of any kind.
