Default The Alberta Economy

Hi everyone.

I am planning on returning to Alberta, having finished off my Occupational Health and Safety certificate at Red River College. I've heard reports that the economy is once again strong. I left Alberta after I was laid off in 2009 when the recession hit.

I just wanted to know how the employment situation is in Calgary compared to places like Edmonton, Red Deer and even Medicine Hat. I lived in Calgary until December 2007. Is the job situation somewhat comparable to the boom period of 2004-08? I've noticed you can still get a decent 1BR apartment for around $900/month too.

I'm going to be looking for a job in the field I studied (Health & Safety Officer), but will settle for something else if I have no luck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
