Washington Capitals Offseason update (Caps-Bruins trade and depth chart updated)
GM Hesla has been busy as usual wheeling and dealing. Last year he took an aging roster and dismantled it during the season in order to do a soft rebuild. This offseason the goal is to build through trades to vault the team back into a playoff position, while being better set up long term with some solid prospects.
At one point this offseason the Capitals were 8.5 Million over the cap and had to move out some big contracts for prospects/ahlers. Chris Phillips, Marco Sturm and Andy Sutton were all moved to clear the space. Currently the Capitals are sitting with 500K in space with the need for a 4th liner and a coach.
August 11th update: We have IMO vastly improved the forward corp from the start of the offseason. Some help on the 4th line and 2nd pairing defense and the team can go into the year as a contender .
August 20th update: A few recent trades had left us CHEESED TO THE MAX !!!!!!! Therefore, we downgraded Oduya in an
effort to add some flexibility and assets for further upgrades. Our goal is to continue upgrading everywhere if possible.
