Perhaps so. I remember when I read the third book for the first time it was head and shoulders above the others.

I guess I'm the kind of person that enjoys the little things in the books, so I like the longer books. I realize I'm in the vast minority here, but if they made a movie of the 5th book with every little thing in it, and made it 8 hours long... I'd love it.

But at that point I imagine I should just read the book again.
