The problem with condo fees is like with everything else, the board has to cater to the lowest common denominator (ie the biggest whiner on the face of the planet).
With my condo every suite has a natural gas fireplace - in the winter it is needed as the water pipe heating only is good up until -30. Some of these neepsuges keep the heat turned up and the fireplace on the entire summer. I personally would LOVE if all insuite utilities were paid for by the user of said utilities.
When I petitioned last year to have all water pipe heating turned off when temp went above 15 - 2 people complained about it and so the board said no.
The other thing that rgmg about a condo (my condo) is they allow renters, and for the most part they are so disrespectful of public property that it drives up the costs for the rest of us.
