Something to try is connecting your PS3 directly to your Bose via optical cable. If this works better, and you have another digital input into your Bose for the TV, problem should be solved. A lot of TVs don't send DD 5.1 out via optical, except from OTA signals. If you don't have another digital input into your Bose, you can can get a toslink switch from Monoprice, something like
this.
