Why? What is a negative about these people dressing up?

If you are an actual cowboy and you have a problem with these people dressing up then I would respect that opinion but if the real cowboys have no issue with it I don't see why you should.

Let's all remember that the Stampede is an event that is designed to celebrate Calgary's history and heritage. It would make no sense to host an event like that and only allow the real cowboys and cowgirls to join along.

I agree with you that the people who call Calgary a hick town and complain about Calgary's western aspects the rest of the year should not join in on the party. But the people who appreciate Calgary's history and welcome the western identity should enjoy themselves and take in the events that Calgary has to offer for those 10 days.

Should only people who have played hockey be able to wear hockey jerseys and cheer for their favourite team?
