Oil earn a point on the road in a 2 – 2 tie
The setting was Madison Square Gardens as the Oil and the Rangers hooked up for game 804 of the CPHL season. The Rangers provided the only scoring of the opening period as Todd White beat Martin Brodeur on the stick side with a minute and eleven seconds showing on the clock.
The second period showed a lot of nothing, as the two teams could not capitalize their opportunities. The Oil went 0 – 2 on the power play on the period, as Noronen stood tall.
It wasn’t until the third period that the Oil found a way to beat Noronen as both Vinny and Hossa both scored two and a half minutes apart. The last ten minutes saw the Oil just dump ‘n chase and get the boring road game going. Niinimaa spoiled the party with a late goal bringing the game to a two – two tie. OT solved nothing, as the Oil seemed content tonight to get out with the point.
Overall anytime you grab a point on the road it’s a good thing.
Roman Hamrlik who was a game time scratch will be in the line up tonight as the Oil and the Canes do battle. Hamrlik has not played since December 7 and will be a welcome addition back on the blue line.
