After losing its bid for both the 2010 and 2014 Games, today Pyeongchang, South Korea was named the host city for the 2018 Winter Olympics. This will be the third time the Winter Games will be held in Asia, and the second Olympics for South Korea.

Surprising probably no one, Pyeongchang defeated Munich, Germany and Annecy, France on the first ballot of voting.
