They did that for the entire life of the G35. The 2005 that you are thinking of was a special Nismo edition (that I believe was more of a supercar than anything, very very high performance). The 'normal' 2005 skyline was just the G35. Only some Skylines were AWD, with RWD turbo and nonturbo models available. Also 4 door skylines were available (the G35 4 door was sold as a skyline as well).
