Personally I think Harper won as the opposition (i.e. martin) completely failed in trying to characterize Harper and the Tories as scary and evil americans. I think most people are realising that the Tories are just as Canadian as any other party but have different policies. But the Liberals dont do that!! We've been told repeatedly on this very forum that the whole "Cons are scary" thing was fabricated by the Cons themselves as a way of explaining defeat in the last election!!
