Default I'm holding an event, need tech advice

I'm holding an event with people coming in from out of town. The event requires basic registration info to be sent (possibly to a specific e-mail address -- name, birthdate, affilitation, etc.). I also need to collect a registration fee.

Any advice on the best way to handle this. Is there a web site I can use to collect and monitor who has registered, is paypal the best way to go about receiving the funds. Can I set something up easily and host it on my shaw webspace??
