No critic is telling you what you should or shouldn't like, only what they personally think is a well-crafted film or not. Sites like RottenTomatoes aggregate dozens of different reviews in one place so you can easily see the critical consensus. That said, there's a pretty good chance professional film critics are capable of forming more informed opinions about movies than you. Roger Ebert (who is himself an unabashed fan of action and sci-fi films when they're made properly) had this to say about people who enjoyed Transformers 2:

Not superior to all other people, but to some, most probably including those who think Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen is a great film. That is not simply ego on my part. It is a faith that after writing and teaching about films for more than 40 years, my tastes are more evolved than those of a fanboy.
Note: Ebert gave Transformers 1 a "thumbs up" 3-star review, so he doesn't "hate" the genre.
