I'll put a Mini Cooper S against any of the North American "performance cars" in this thread and kick their asses all over the road in the cones or in a road course. The Cooper takes corners you don't think are possible. In a real world situation, I'll take handling over raw horsepower any day of the week. But this is all moot as I don't race my cars. I motor-crossed my Cooper a couple times and I just no longer had the taste for it (nor the money for tiresz!). I prefer to put the top down and cruise, enjoying the ride. So every time some young punk in his ricer or Mustang rolls up and gives that wink, I just look over, smile and laugh in his face. I know what my car will do, and I know what other cars will do as well. I respect those that I know are "fine" automobiles, and I laugh at those that are pretenders. These reborn quasi "muscle cars" are all pretenders. Nice to look at, and remind you of a time gone by, but not serious vehicles for drivers. As I said earlier, I'll stick with my Jap scrap. It looks good, it rides great, it handles like a dream, and when I want to, it runs like Ben Johnson.
The same 205HP piece of GM junk I mentioned that will run with a 350 in a straight line will beat a cooper S in both a straight line and through the corners. It out accelerates and out handles.

Its obvious you are yet another person with the "All American cars suck" blinders on that really doesn't know what you are talking about. I'd love to see a Mustang GT against a 350 on a road course. As was mentioned earlier, a C6 corvette will beat everything in handling and acceleration within $50,000 of its price. A C6 Z06 takes out turbo porsches... on a road course and a drag strip.

You remind me of all of the 16 year olds running around in honda civics that think their cars are faster than everyone because they have V-tec. A Z is a very nice car, but by no means is it fast for its price range. They make a friggen neon that is faster....
