Significant players will NOT dress tonight.

kicker Rob Maver, offensive linemen Edwin Harrison, Jon Gott and Dimitri Tsoumpas, receivers Jabari Arthur and Arjei Franklin, defensive back Demetrice Morley and defensive lineman Ian DeGannes-Shaw — the Stamps had to make a few other judgement calls because there simply isn’t enough room in the visitors’ locker-room at Commonwealth Stadium to fit the entire training camp roster.
One decision was made easier: returner Larry Taylor flew back to Florida earlier this week to be with his wife, who’s due to give birth. That opens the door for the likes of Deon Murphy, Landan Talley, LaMarcus Coker and Anthony Parker to strut their stuff on returns.
The Stamps will also leave long-snapper Randy Chevrier at home. He has nothing to prove tomorrow night, so it’s a chance to give Tim St. Pierre and Rob Cote a chance to snap on special teams in game situations.
Also sitting out is defensive lineman Corey Mace (no point pushing the envelope as he comes back from off-season back surgery) and defensive back Saleem Borhot (a victim of the numbers game, and a possible indicator that he will be one of the players who doesn’t survive Saturday’s final round of cuts.
The most excited man at McMahon Stadium on Thursday was, beyond a doubt, Calgary Colts kicker Andrew Fabian. Just over a week ago, he was helping get the seeding done at his family’s 800-acre grain farm outside of Tilley when he got the call from Stamps’ director of player personnel John Murphy, asking if he could fill a void left in camp by Maver’s leg injury.
Now, he’ll be kicking on national television tomorrow night in a 60,000-seat stadium. Not bad for a 20-year-old.
