Marketing Mistake?
I just saw a Scotia Bank commercial where they are cheering for the Canucks saying "3 wins 1 more to go", is this smart marketing when you've allegedly got the majority of Canadian cheering against the Nucks?
I won't bank at Scotia Bank as long as I remember that commercial (which is probably only about 3 months), but if I was looking to switch right now I would probably rule them out solely based on these petty grounds.
Is getting 'the spot' i.e. the viewers brand recognition the most important thing here? Does team loyalty only factor in to banking decisions for fringe weirdos (like me)? Maybe they are doing this intentionally to boost their BC customer base? Can any marketing guru's chime in?
