Notes from Day 2:
Quote:
It was slotback Nik Lewis hitting the locker-room early — pausing to exchange pleasantries with TSN’s Duane Forde, who was in Calgary on Tuesday to do some interviews for pre-season specials — with what Stamps coach and GM John Hufnagel described as tightness on the inside of his legs.
“Pat (Clayton, the Stamps’ director of medical services) took him in, put some ice on it and got him on a stretching program,” said Hufnagel.

The quarterbacks, meanwhile, were not as sharp as we’ve come to expect, although there were a couple of mis-run routes that made them look bad. On the whole, though, there were some ball-handling problems that should they occur closer to July 1 will be alarming.
On Day 2 of training camp? Not so much.
“They haven’t been as accurate as I’d like to see them,” conceded Hufnagel. “But go back to previous camps, and it’s been kind of the same way. I expect them to improve as we move forward.”

the defensive secondary has been a very fluid unit, with players moving all over the place. Today, for instance, Brandon Smith, who’s been a wide-side halfback his entire career with the Stampeders, was lining up at Brandon Browner’s old position, short-side cornerback. That sort of juggling is going to continue for the foreseeable future until the Stamps get a grasp on which players fit where.
