Entomologists, a question for you
So lately I've been noticing a species of 'bug' sprouting up in my bathroom on frequent enough occasion to warrant suspicion.
I hesitate to use the word 'insect' because what I remember from my high school biology classes tells me that what I'm finding is not an insect.
It is a small, brown coloured worm-like larval bug, like a centipede. It is very small in size, shorter than the span of my pinky finger cuticle. It has a flat front, as if the head itself is completely flat, and on its tail end are small straight fibres than fat outward like a v.
Normally I would chalk this up to the occasional insect managing to find its way into a house through some inconsequential or insignificant compromise of the exterior structure... but I live on the 16th floor of an apartment high rise. Bugs and critters of the like should not be appearing in my home when I live that high up.
I always find them in the bathroom, caught in the bath mat. My guess is that they're somehow getting in through the bathroom fan fixture and falling from the ceiling to the floor. As for how often I'm finding them, well... 6 separate times in May is making me wonder if I should be concerned.
