this has been debunked in the past, its actually surprising how many players got chances in the first 2 years of their ELC
but to sum it up since Darryl Sutter became GM the following players saw NHL time in the 1st 2 years of their ELC (excluding the lockout season)...
Matthew Lombardi - 2nd season, full season
Chuck Kobasew - 2nd season, full season
Brennan Evans - 1st season, 2 playoff games
Dion Phaneuf - 1st season, full season
Mark Giordano - 2nd season, 7 games (91% of season in year 3)
Eric Nystrom - 1st season, 2 games (hurt 2nd season, 71% of season in year 3)
Carsen Germyn - 2nd year, 2 games
Richie Regehr - 1st year, 14 games (6 games in 2nd season, then he got hurt)
David Moss - 2nd year, 59% of season
Dustin Boyd - 1st season, 13 games (73% of season in year 2)
Tomi Maki - 2nd season, 1 game
Brandon Prust - 2nd season, 10 games
Matt Keetley - 1st season, 1 game
Tim Ramholt - 2nd season, 1 game
Matt Pelech - 2nd season, 5 games
Brett Sutter - 2nd season, 4 games
John Negrin - last jr season, 3 games
Mikael Backlund - last jr season, 1 game (30% of season in first full year, full season in second year)
Greg Nemisz - 1st season, 6 games
Lance Bouma - 1st season, 16 games
TJ Brodie, 1st season, 3 games
the problem is not the Flames giving young players chances... the problem was the Flames had no young players with enough talent to make it when given a chance
