But this isn't a Drury situation, it's a draft situation. I don't like how the system works in that a player can refuse to sign with the team that drafted him for arbitrary or unstated reasons -> without consequences. A player that does this should not be able to re-enter the NHL draft or play with another NHL team for another year. There should be a waiver situation like with FAs who are free to not report to the team that traded for/signed them/have their rights like Nabokov and the Islanders. The consequence is that they are not allowed into an NHL organization until the next season.

I think that this would punish North American prospects much more than European but I totally agree in principle.
