For the record I believe Feaster made a decent trade (no matter if the returning assets turn out)

Not really when you consider the overall situation. Erixon had every advantage on his side.
1. Late start to the negotiating process due to the season/worlds/whatever.
2. Significant gains in rankings and a relatively weak draft that would probably have him going in the first round again
3. CBA expiring and the potential to have better conditions (if he went back to the draft)
4. Comfortable situation in the SEL which he could easily return to if another team drafted him and would not sign/deal him (assuming Rangers were the ultimate goal)
5. Rigid caps on salary and bonuses - it is next to impossible to "sweeten the pot"
The fact that Erixon had pretty much zero downside in this whole process. I hope the presser in 20 minutes sheds some light as to why - which is the only thing we really care about now anyways.
