NY ISLANDERS SEASON IN REVIEW 2010-2011
 Summary
After finishing 3rd last in the league a year ago the Islanders 2nd year GM Mike B surprised all the critics by finishing 12th overall with 93 points and making the playoffs for the first time in 7 years. An amazing increase of 30 points and 16 spots in the standings was second only to the incredible year by the Avalanche with +50 points and +25 spots. To top things off the Islanders quickly eliminated the 3rd seeded Thrashers in the first round of the playoffs only to lose to the powerhouse Flyers in the 2nd round in a hard fought 6 game series.

 Analysis
A lot of the Islanders success this season can be attributed by acquiring one of the best goalies in the game in Henrik Lundqvist. In addition the Islanders became a much better defensive team and had a much deeper roster than they have had in a long time

 Future
With injuries left and right heading into the playoffs the Islanders sacrificed some future to solidify the team and add extra depth to weather any further injuries. Down the stretch the Islanders added Matt Cullen, Chad Larose, and Michael Ryder without losing any roster players, although it is unlikely that any of these players will return to the Island next season. Cullen and Larose will be UFA's while Ryder's contract is pretty hefty at 7 MIL.Lundqvist will be looking for a healthy raise as he will be testing the free agent market, unless an amazing offer is made he will be staying put on the Island.
