Talked to my brother last night and CBC had a story where they put the typical yearly deaths due to tornados and then what we've seen this year. 55 or so is average. This year we are well over 400. Just crazy. The Joplin one was an EF5 which make up a fraction of one percent of all tornados. To have that hit a major population center is just odd. Especially on the heels of the Tuscaloosa one.
As part of the the management team, today we went and dug through the destroyed houses of a couple of our employees to find things. The scene is absolutely unimaginable. Still for one employee we managed to find his three safes with all there important documents and surprisingly his work computer which looked completely untouched and was 100% dry despite his house not having a rubble pile higher than 2 or 3 feet (100 % levelled). Across the street is a house missing every wall but the front and a bit of one side. On the second floor you can see a closet that has all the clothes hanging in it as if they had just been put there. Meanwhile 40 feet away our guys minivan was tossed a 100 feet.
Take care again today and tonight everyone. Make it through this night and things are supposed to calm down a bit.
