Some Christians get mad when Cheese constantly puts up threads about the wacky religious right. Some cry loudly it isn't them, and don't paint us all with one brush, but still churn their own illogical nonsense and bigotry in their arguments when Thor and Photon challenge their thoughts and 'facts'.
But even the business community sees it. The rest of us, we see Gingrich and Palin, and Huckabee and go, 'oh dear god, there are people out there that would vote for these guys? They can actually get on TV, destroy history and logic, and achievements of the human race, and there is a large group of people that applaud them for it? Or at least think there is an argument behind all their superstitious speeches? They loudly decry knowledge either through sheer delusions of their own, or worse through political scheming for votes and they get elected?'
Right wing religious fundamentalism is a serious force in North America. In the world. And for all of those that say it's not part of their political party, or it doesn't paint them I ask them to open their eyes and really take a look around. And then, even if you still don't believe it's a problem, at least understand when some of us get so worked up about it.
This is a problem. And if your not speaking out against it (like so many moderate-fundamental Muslims in the middle of their problem right now) then you are a part of it.

What utter nonsense! Harold Camping has no association with Gingrich, Palin, and Huckabee. He is a cult leader which was rejected by all the main stream christian sects long ago.
All 3 of those conservative leaders gained their popularity through their governance; not through their religion. Huckabee and Palin were both popular Governors and Gingrich had his contract with America while he was speaker of the House.
Every American President has claimed association with some Christian sect. Obama is the only one I can think of who belonged to a cult. Clinton and Carter were Baptists like Huckabee. Reagan was a strong Catholic. Bush a Methodist. They were all something.
Harold Camping's ministry has all of the hallmarks of a cult. They see themselves as exclusively saved. Their salvation is one of works. They can lose it at any time if they turn away from the cult. They follow one central leader to the exclusion of all others. Harold Camping also appears to claim some exclusive revelation from the Lord.
Look at the history of the Jehovah witnesses or the Seven Day Adventists (with their investigatve judgement) and you will find parallels to Harold Camping's history.
Harold Camping's ministry is proof that the atheist's are wrong. Religion isn't dying out at all. We are witnessing the rising of a new Cult that like the ones before it will stuggle at first and then begin to grow rapidly after the death of their founder. Nothing to see here folks. Certainly not a brush you can fairly paint every Republican candidate with.
