Facts are observations. Conclusions can be drawn from facts, but facts themselves are simply information.
I found a clay pot, or a piece of manuscript that has this word on it, those are facts.
People are fully capable of believing things without facts, that doesn't mean that those things are true.
People still believe the earth is flat, or that they are being followed by the government in black helicopters, or that aliens abducted them and gave them an anal probe.
