Write down a simple 2 sentence phrase like "Hello im Jack Bush and im looking at getting into the trade, if your hiring 1st years I would like to send you my resume."

Then open the phonebook and just call every companies secretary.. alternatively you can goto the Unemployment Office and get the Business Directory and photocopy it, that will give you alot more information such as which companies are Residential and which are Commercial.

Also as a 1st year its not as bad as Nufy says. If its commercial your 1st year will consist of getting tools and materials and handing things to people up on ladders. Near the end of your 1st year you should have basic pipe bending skills. If you go into residential expect to be either drilling alot of holes through wooden studs or alot of experiance at putting in switches, receptacles.
